  • Integrity (character & values)
  • Vision (purpose & goals)
  • Empowerment (developing a resource network)

THRIVE is a ministry of Love INC of the Black Hills.

Why Thrive?

When researching the needs in our community, we found a lack of programming for at-risk youth (age 14-17) for strong employment and life-modeling opportunities. We also found employers expressing frustration over lack of competent employees with positive work and life skills.

THRIVE provides our local youth a faith based supportive onramp into the employment world where they can:

  • Learn basic employment and life skills
how to get a job, keep a job and start a career
  • Set short and long term goals
  • Experience adult mentoring and life-modeling while working
  • Can return to thrive as peer mentors and provide a powerful influence for future classes
  • Be less dependent on other social programs in adulthood

What Is Thrive?

THRIVE YOUTH is a hands-on faith-based life skills employment program for youth ages 14-17 set in an outdoor adventure retail environment. Participants learn employer expectations by working alongside adult mentors in a retail store in a seamless mastery driven environment. Skills development includes receiving, sorting, reconditioning, repairing, pricing, marketing, merchandising, online sales, floor sales, customer service, back office, cash register, janitorial, scheduling, and other general work skills.

THRIVE RESALE is an all seasons adventure gear store that provides the work environment for THRIVE YOUTH. Donations and consignments are accepted for outdoor gear and clothing. Accepted items include gear for biking, hiking, running, hunting (no guns or knives), skiing, boarding, camping, fishing, water sports, and tennis-racquetball. The youth work in all aspects of the retail environment.

THRIVE INSIDE is a furniture and home decor resale store that provides additional work opportunities for THRIVE YOUTH to upscale and recondition donated items for sale.
